Government:  "NO" to intefaith  commission

Praise God for His sovereignty over Malaysia and His goodness towards the people despite challenges arising from racial/religious/political tension from time to time.
  1. Praise God for His lovingkindness to the Church
    • The Church will continue to walk in the light, as He is in the light, imitate Jesus's lifestyle in all that we do (Eph 5:1-2; 1 John 1:5-7).
    • Church leaders to show godly example in personal lives and in Kingdom investment.
    • "If there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind" (Phil 2:1-2)
  2. Pray that the hearts and minds of many will be enlightened to receive the truth, that Jesus is the Light of the world, he who follows Him will not walk in darkness, but will have the Light of life (John 8:12).
  3. Continue to pray that our national leaders will have wisdom, act with sober judgment and are impartial in decision-making; that they will no longer be in denial and sweep things under the carpet, but will have the political will, honesty and commitment to build a harmonious and just nation
    • Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said, "We don't need an interfaith commission. At the moment we don't feel that it is something necessary," http://www.malaysiakini.com/news/123326. He felt there were no major religious issues that warranted the setting up of such commission, and that the "Allah" case could be solved through on-going informal talks (Star, pN4, 31/1/10; www.themalaysianinsider.com, 1/2/10).
    • Many disagree with DPM saying that there had been a lot of issues and a structured body would better help to address issues (Star, pN6, 1/2/10; www.themalaysianinsider.com, 1/2/10).
  4. Pray that the culprits who seek to disrupt peace (for whatever motive) will be arrested and be brought to justice. "Transgression speaks to the wicked deep in his heart; there is no fear of God before his eyes...There the evildoers lie fallen; they are thrust down, unable to rise" (Ps 36, ESV)].
    • On 27 Jan, wild boar heads were found in the compound of two mosques following several arson attempts on churches and suraus.

Government Transformation  Programme (GTP)

"The objective of GTP is two-fold -- first, to transform the Government to be more effective in its delivery of services and accountable for outcomes that matter most to the rakyat; and second, to move Malaysia forward to become an advanced, united, and just society with high standards of living for all." For details on GTP, please log on to  http://www.transformation.gov.my/    "It is the people who will decide via the ballot box if the GTP did not achieve its objective. The Government will be held accountable for its premises," said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak during the launch at KLCC (Star, p2, 20/1/10).
  1. Pray for political will, sincerity and full commitment in building a clean & just Government with good governance
  2. Pray for the national leaders and influential politicians
    • that they will place the wellbeing of the nation above all else and discard their own political agenda for personal gain.
    • that the wicked and greedy ones will be removed.
  3. Pray that all related departments and personnel will commit to reducing crime, fighting corruption, improving education, raising living standards of  low-income households, improving rural basic infrastructure and urban public transport. The expected outcomes, among others, are (Star, 29/1/10)
    • Reduced reported street crimes by 20% by year end
    • By 2012, four targets to be achieved: "constructing over 7000km of new and upgraded roads, building and restoring 50,000 household for the poor, providing electricity for 140,000 households, and supplying clean or treated water to over 360,000 houses.
    • Zero extreme poverty by the end of 2010. Currently there are more than 44,000 hardcore poor households in the country.
